Build it and they come is cute, but highly ineffective.

A fresh web site is nothing more than a flyer that’s posted on a telephone pole – it is unnoticed by the majority of people walking by, and unknown by 99.9% of people in your neighborhood.

The next step may be to hand out flyers at the local mall, or at a busy street corner. You may increase your chances to get a customer or two, but it still is pretty much a shotgun approach.

You could invest your business’ hard earned cash in ads, but they come at a stiff price and campaigns have an expiration date, or the tap keeps dripping, or impact your cash flow rather negatively.

A web site, or service, targeted to the right customer can be highly effective, and there are many ways to achieve this goal – SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is one of them – in a few short words, one can optimize a web site, or page, to achieve the desired search results: Number One in Google, Yahoo, Bing and other search engines.

Now, when anyone promises you, that they can place your business in the #1 spot in no time – run. Run as fast as you can.

There are literally millions of sites that offer just what you do. Say, you’re selling lawn chairs, and someone performs a search for “lawn chairs”, the first page results would show offerings from giants like Walmart, Amazon and Target, because they simply have the advertisement budget to place #1 ads.

Chances are, you are catering to local or regional customers and a search engine optimized page could reveal SEO results for “lawn chairs Hudson Valley”, or “lawn chairs Beacon”, quite possibly with a high ranking, depending on your competition and market research. Or, you could try to look for alternative keywords like “patio furniture”, or “deck furniture”, and so on…

There’s no magic potion, there are no guarantees – results only show with increment improvements over time. Patience is key and we are here to help.
